California Healthcare Minimum Wage
Does This Affect Your ASC?
As part of CASA's ongoing monitoring of healthcare labor law, we're sending this update following the July 1, 2026, increase in the healthcare worker minimum wage under SB 525. This is the second scheduled increase since the law's phased rollout began in October 2024, raising the rate for most independent ASCs from $21.00 to $23.00 per hour. We wanted to make sure members have clear, current guidance now that this rate is in effect — particularly given how often this law's dates and tiers have shifted since it was first enacted.

2026 Midyear Review: What's Happening Now and What It Means for Your ASC
A lot is moving at the federal level - and it is directly affecting California ASCs.
Bipartisan legislation introduced in March could permanently stabilize Medicare reimbursement - but the clock is ticking. CMS updated ASC payment rates in April, and 276 new procedures were added to the covered list - the largest expansion in recent history.
Nearly $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts are rolling into effect. If you have Medi-Cal patients, pay attention.
The CY 2027 Proposed Rule drops in July. The market basket update expires December 31st.
